We recently spent five days in Cavendish as a family (with kids aged 11 and 8), and honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing. If you’re planning a trip, here’s our exact itinerary, from where we stayed to everything we did along the way.
Where to Stay in Cavendish
We stayed at Jellystone Park™ Cavendish in one of their Deluxe Plus Cottages. It had two bedrooms and a pull-out couch, but my favourite features were the private bathroom, air conditioning, and the sweetest front porch swing.
Pro tip: Linens are not included with these rentals, so be sure to pack your own.
Jellystone Park™ Cavendish exceeded our expectations. In fact, our daughter was in tears when it was time to leave because she loved it so much.
The kids spent hours in the pool, bounced on the giant jumping pillow, and made new friends around the campground. Every morning they helped wake up Yogi Bear™, and every evening they gathered for storytime before putting Yogi Bear™ to bed. There were organized activities throughout the day, and we loved watching the kids enjoy a little independence while safely exploring the campground.
5-Day Cavendish PEI Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive & Settle In
We arrived in the evening with just enough daylight left to squeeze in some fun.
Our first stop? A wagon ride with Yogi Bear™ and Ranger Liv. We sang songs, waved to everyone we passed, and enthusiastically shouted “HEY HEY HEY!” around the campground.
After that, the kids headed straight for the jumping pillow before joining everyone for the nightly tradition of putting Yogi Bear™ to bed.
It was the perfect way to kick off our vacation.
Day 2: Ripley’s, Mini Golf & A Haunted Surprise
We started the morning with coffee from the General Store before the kids joined everyone to wake up Yogi Bear™, stretch, raise the flag, and hear about the day’s activities.
Lucky for us, it was pancake breakfast day, so we filled up before heading out to explore.
Since it was overcast with a bit of drizzle, we decided it was the perfect day to visit Mariner’s Cove Boardwalk.
Our first stop was Ripley’s Believe It or Not! We loved wandering through the exhibits, checking out the incredible artwork, and learning some seriously bizarre facts. Our favourite part was discovering whether we had the gene to curl our tongues in front of the famous mirror. (If you know, you know.)
Next, we visited Wax World of the Stars, where we posed with all our favourite celebrities before the kids raced through the Amazing Maze more times than I could count.
Right next door was Mariner’s Cove Mini Golf, where we put our very questionable golf skills to the test.
By then we had worked up quite an appetite, so we stopped at The Ship’s Company Pub & Galley and shared a table full of appetizers. The fish tacos, coconut shrimp, and lobster dip were all fantastic.
To finish off the day, we attempted Route 6 Haunted Motel.
Unfortunately, 3 out of 4 of us chickened out in the very first room and had to yell “Check out!” three times to be rescued.
Definitely not for the faint of heart… but honestly, isn’t that exactly what you want from a haunted attraction?
Day 3: Sandspit Amusement Park
Today’s adventure took us to Sandspit Amusement Park.
It’s the perfect-sized amusement park for families. There are enough rides to keep everyone entertained, but it’s not so big that you feel like you need to spend the entire day there.
After riding almost everything, we rewarded ourselves with some COWS Ice Cream before heading back to Jellystone Park™ Cavendish for an afternoon swim in the outdoor pool.
Day 4: Water Slides, Beach Time & Bonfires
This ended up being the kids’ favourite day of the trip.
We spent most of the day at Shining Waters Family Fun Park, and with temperatures soaring, the water slides couldn’t have been more perfect.
When we weren’t cooling off in the pools, we visited the farm animals and squeezed in a few rides.
Afterward, we drove just a few minutes to Cavendish Beach.
We swam in the ocean, built sandcastles, and stayed to watch the sunset. It was one of those simple moments that ends up becoming one of your favourite memories.
Back at Jellystone Park™ Cavendish, we wrapped up the evening around a campfire with new friends, making s’mores and sharing lots of laughs.
Day 5: One Last Adventure
None of us were ready to leave.
After saying goodbye to Yogi Bear™, we packed up and checked out.
Before starting the drive home, we made one final stop at Yippee’s Playcade, where the kids burned off some last-minute energy before the car ride home.
Hot Tip
All of the attractions we visited during our trip were included with the Maritime Fun Group Slide & Ride XL Pass.
The pass includes unlimited admission to nine family attractions in Cavendish and is available as either a weekly or season pass.
If you’re planning to visit multiple attractions, it’s definitely worth looking into.
Final Thoughts
Overall, we had an incredible family vacation with this Cavendish PEI Itinerary and made memories we’ll be talking about for years.
One of my favourite things about Cavendish is how close everything is. You can experience so much without spending hours driving from place to place, making it an ideal destination for families with young kids.
