FALL ADVENTURES IN NOVA SCOTIA

Pumpkin People

The Pumpkin People Festival is located in Kentville and runs this year from October 3th-30th. In the past, there have been over 300 Pumpkin People spread across the town! I find the pumpkin people a little creepy, which is perfect leading up to Hallowe’en. I had never seen anything like it, so it’s something really fun to do as a family. This year’s theme is “Fables, Folklore & Fantasy,” so they will be creating pumpkin people scenes from their fairy tales!

Keep in mind that the people are spread out in different displays around town, so you will probably be hopping in and out of the car to check out the different displays. If you are keen on walking and have small children, it would be advisable to bring a stroller. I imagine this will also be good for social distancing, as most of the displays have a lot of room. Noggins

You could definitely spend a whole day at Noggins Corner Farm Market. Come here for Apple and Pumpkin U-pick! Enjoy a wagon ride to the apple orchard, which is still being offered this year (masks required). The corn maze is open Saturday – Monday, 9am-6pm from September 12th to November 1st 2020. The haunted house will also be open again this year. Due to Covid restrictions and limited numbers allowed at a time, they are recommending purchasing tickets ahead of time online. Jerome’s Graveyard Tour

This is something I’ve always wanted to do! Located in the Annapolis Valley, this year Jerome the Gravekeeper is offering sit down shows with your ‘bubble’ and also ghostly ‘bubble’ walks on demand. Join Jerome and his ghostly friends on a tour with haunted stories and entertainment! Find more information here: Valley Ghost Walks

Celtic Colours Online

Every year, people trek to Cape Breton in the fall to enjoy this festival of Celtic culture. Celtic Colours will be a little different this year. This year, you will be able to enjoy the talent of Cape Breton musicians from the comfort of your own home. Celtic Colours runs from October 9-17, 2020. The best part is – it’s free of charge! Find more information about it here: Celtic Colours International Festival

Nocturne

Nocturne is a Art festival that takes place at night. It runs from October 12-17, 2020 at 6pm- midnight. It takes place in the streets of Halifax and Dartmouth.
