Want to up-level your business, make money on your blog, or build up clientele? Keep reading, because this is the most important step that I have learned along the way. It is not some big complicated thing. In fact, it is quite simple.
Break free of algorithms. You need to build up your own email list.
As a blog or a business, having a large Instagram, Facebook or Twitter following is fantastic, but that does not guarantee that your target market will see your posts. You do not own any of those platforms, and they could change at any moment. Not only that, but a very low percentage of your followers actually see your posts on social media.
The most important marketing tool you can do for your business is to create an email list. You OWN that email list, and you can send messages directly to your target market’s inbox. Imagine you write that e-book, build that online course, or develop a new service or product, and now with one simple click of a button, you could launch it and send the news directly to everyone’s email who is on your list!
I have discovered a fantastic platform to do this on. It is called Flodesk, and I first heard about it on Jenna Kutcher’s podcast. According to Jenna, email marketing is 10 x more effective than posting on social media! Flodesk was also recommended to me through a blogging course that I recently took.
It is a super simple platform to use. (Trust me, I am not tech-savvy, so if I can use it, anyone can! They offer beautiful email layouts (some even designed by Jenna Kutcher!) and all you need to do is add your own photos and text, and voila! You have a beautiful email to send out to your mailing list.
Flodesk also lets you set up workflows. So for example, if someone signs up for my “Teach English Online” freebie, they become part of my “teaching workflow” and I can send out specific emails to them.
